Hostease has three choices in purchasing web hosting. They are blog, basic and business. Among them, only those who choose business one can get a free dedicated IP. Maybe there are many people who don’t know about dedicated IP too much, so just let us learn more about it together.

Using a dedicated IP has more advantages than using a shared one. The following are some reasons that can explain it.

1.People can access your site via your dedicated IP, while using shared IP can not achieve this goal. So your site can be accessed in two ways. Shared IP just can open the default page.

2.Having a dedicated IP allows your site to be separated from other sites on the server. If you want a stable service, dedicated IP is a necessity. If you use shared IP, your site will easily be affected when one of the sites on the server has something wrong and leads to the suspension of the shared IP. Or, when share IP is attacked, if we can not be sure which account is attacked, then all of the accounts on the server will be influenced. What is the function of dedicated IP? That is to say, dedicated IP does not have the risk (which) talked above.

3.Furthermore, if you want to use SSL function, a dedicated IP is a must. Only if you have dedicated IP, then you can install SSL certificate. Because SSL certificate can only be installed in a certain IP which excludes shared IP for you can not set up a safe site based on shared IP.

4.Meanwhile, a dedicated IP is also a necessity of using anonymous FTP in Hostease. To have the function of anonymous FTP, you should buy a dedicated IP. Anyway, a dedicated IP is a better choice.

Obviously, there are more than these advantages above. Anyone who uses dedicated IP will benefit from it and will find the good points of using dedicated IP. So, are you ready to have one?

Many people don’t satisfy with their hosting providers but have to stay with them; this is simply because they think that moving to a new server is too complicated. They don’t want the down time when they move their websites, reset domain name severs and change email settings. Fortunately, it is possible to move a website without downtime.

Here is step-by-step on how to move your website without downtime.
1.Keep the current hosting account
While you are finding the new web hosting make sure you don’t cancel your current hosting account. If your current hosting provider knows you want to cancel your hosting account, they would terminate your account early. This will cause the downtime.

2.Analysis your website needs and select a new hosting
Select a hosting that can provide what your website needs. Sign up a new hosting account, you should have two hosting accounts at this time.

3.Backup and download all of your files
Backup the entire website .You can use a FTP program or whatever development tools you may be used to download all files. Then upload the entire website to the new hosting account. Keep the directory structure exactly as it is on your previous hosting account. If you have built the site it is most likely that you already have all of these.

4.Update your name severs
You’ll get at least two name severs in the new account information email from your new hosting provider. After moving the entire website to the new hosting account, it’s time to update your domain name servers. Go to domain control panel to change the DNS to the new hosting provider’s.

5.Monitor (for ) the domain name change
Once the DNS has been changed, it usually takes 24 to 48 hours for the entire world to see the change. During this period your DNS is propagating worldwide and your website will be bouncing from the previous host to the new host every other minute randomly. Once the propagation has completed that means you are safely to cancel the previous hosting account.

And there you have done it; you can move your website without downtime.

If you are looking for an effective hosting plan for your online business website，it is very important to have a business plan which meets your requirements. There are many advantages of owning a business hosting plan, even if you do not particularly need all of the features associated with one.

Typically, business hosting plan has a great deal of features that are necessary for online business. These features include ,but are not limited to, free powerful shopping carts, mailing list software, SSL(Secure Soket Layer) Certificate, facilities etc. Your site may benefit from a secure area, or mailing list software even if you don’t have an online business website.

A sub-domain is a great way to organize your site’s content and content areas. It makes your job easier to keep track of all of the aspects of your site for business hosting plan normally includes this feature. If you have an online store of a catalog, this is a very useful way to separate your content area from your store’s catalog.

Unlimited addon domains are another feature which is typically included. This means you can create numerous websites on the same web hosting account instead of purchasing another one for extra websites. It will absolutely help you save a lot.

Undoubtedly, a professional business hosting provider understands the importance of your data and how crucial it is for your business, that is why they take a weekly backup of your site. All the data on your website, such as images, content transactions, emails etc. are safely stored, so you can get it back conveniently once the server comes into downtime or something is wrong with the server or even your site.

You’ll need SSL certificate if you are going to processing secure information on your website, such as credit card payments online. SSL stands for Secure Socket Layer. If you are on a shared hosting plan you’ll have to purchase a dedicated IP address. That’s because SSL certificates can’t be installed on a shared IP address. There’s a bonus for you. Hostease business hosting plan offers a free dedicated IP and free SSL certificate. Have you noticed that if you want to get free SSL certificate from hostease you have to purchase the business hosting with annually payment plan.

Business hosting plan usually offers many site analysis tools which give you a very good idea of your site’s popularity. It is very important for sites that need to track promotional campaigns, click through and other aspects of traffic that need to be analyzed. So it is specifically designed to suit the long term needs of small to medium sized business. It offers a variety of features, flexibility, professional support as well as great control. If you want to host an ecommerce site, a business hosting plan is undoubtedly the best choice.

After you have finished your web design and you think you are well prepared to publish your website to the people from all over the world, then it is essential to purchase a web host for your web business online. Web host is divided into two categories when it talks about operating system, Linux and Windows hosting plans. Which one is better, Linux or Windows? This is a real dilemma especially if you are lack of understanding.

In this state of things, it is natural for you to fall into the popular debate of which platform is better. Actually, both have pluses and minuses. Leave the debate alone and think of what is best for you. Many people who have little computer knowledge may make a decision according to the operating system that is installed on their personal computers. This is an error of judgment as the operating system of your PC is totally irrelevant to your selection of web hosting operating system and there is really no need to take it into account. Instead, the basic criterion for your selection should be in accordance with what platform will help you the most. In short, it is your website requirement rather than operating system of your PC should be considered.

Do you need to use following components or technologies that is only compatible for Windows server? .NET scripts, Microsoft SQL, Microsoft Access databases, ASP or ASP.NET scripts and other Windows scripting applications will not compatible with Linux server. Therefore, if you are a fun of Microsoft, it is advised that you should choose a Windows based platform so that you will make full use of different software and application of that company.

On the other hand, with Linux server, you will be able to run PHP scripts, MySQL databases, Python, XML and many other languages. If you are planning to run your website with platform independent languages such as, PHP and MySql, it is a wise choice to go with a Linux server. Linux is an open source system, where anyone can contribute to the development and it is well known to possess remarkable power and stability. As long as they are administered properly, Linux servers are able to execute several queries at the same time. Linux based databases, such as MySql and PostgreSql are relational databases and they are both inexpensive and very efficient. With either of these database, you website can operate very well. Linux servers are famous for dependability as they often maintain a very high percentage of uptime, at least 99.9%. Linux web hosting servers enjoys great popularity among webmaster and developers also contribute to its great reliability.

Linux hosting plans are generally 20% cheaper than Windows hosting plans. This is mainly because that Linux server and its supporting technologies are open source technologies and many online communities make various contributions without any charge while Windows is developed the stuff of Microsoft Company at very high operative costs and the company force people to pay for their license fee before using the Windows server. To use Windows server software it will cost your hosting company much more than using the free of charge Linux server software. And less cost for your hosting company will means less cost for you.

In addition, with Linux server, you will enjoy the greatest of ease when it comes to switching over to Windows system. If a user’s requirement changes with the website development, it is also fairly easy to upgrade a Linux server to meet that needs. Due to the great versatility, Linux has become a platform for many new technologies that become widely used in hosting industry.

To sum up, if you do not need support for some unique Microsoft products to set up unique features for your website like a searchable database or a chat facility, then Linux hosting servers will perform beautifully and flawlessly without doubt. Finally, it all depends on what you need rather than on the merits and demerits of the server. Except for website requirements, for many people the major factor in choosing a web hosting plan is usually the cost.

As the owner of several website, having them hosted across multiple hosting providers will not only charge you a lot but it will very hard for you to maintain as well. Then finding a multiple domains hosting and hosting several domains on a single hosting account is an excellent way of achieving low cost hosting without having to sacrifice quality. Multiple domain hosting is a cost-effective solution for maintaining a multitude of sites.

What is multiple domain hosting?

Multiple domain hosting refers to a special kind of web hosting package that allow you to host several domain name on a single account. Each website can have its own unique domain name, email accounts, ftp account, web mail service etc.

Why you need multiple domain hosting?

Save money. You are of high likely need to pay $500 dollars a year if you have 3-5 website hosted at different web hosting account. This will be a waste of space and money as well. However, with multiple domain web hosting, instead of paying for a new hosting account for each website, you can pay a low, flat-rate fee to host multiple website.

Ease of use. If you host different website on different hosting account, it will be difficult to manage all of your websites with different user names and passwords, different directory and so forth. By hosting all your websites on one account, you can alleviate some of the hassles and headaches associated with operating several web sites using different account information.

How to choose a multiple-domain hosting?

When selecting a multiple domain hosting, you need to look for web hosting provider that have the add-on domain features, which means that besides the primary domain, you have the right to add additional domain. Find a company who offer domain register service as well so that you can get help from them. There are some hosting providers who offer unlimited domain hosting, so that you can add as many website as you like.

Before getting a web host, you should be familiar with some basic concepts of web hosting. Here I’ll give a brief introduction of some fundamental concepts to make the beginners understand easily.

1. Server, Virtual host, VPS, web disk space
A server is a computer which is equipped with a set of necessary applications that provide web service. Generally speaking, there is no essential difference between a server and a computer, in some circumstances there are even servers that run not as smoothly as computers we use.

Virtual hosting is a method that host more than one domain names (websites) on the same server. Websites on the same server are independent from each other in a certain sense. Both virtual hosting and dedicated server can meet the needs of web masters, while the low price of virtual hosting gives it a big advantage over dedicated servers.

VPS, Virtual Private Server (also referred to as Virtual Dedicated Server or VDS), is a method of partitioning a physical server computer into multiple servers such that each has the appearance and capabilities of running on its own dedicated machine. Each virtual server can run its own full-fledged operating system, and each server can be independently rebooted. This is a hosting solution with performance higher than virtual hosting and price lower than dedicated server.

Web space, also known as disk space, is the holding space for your digital data, which may include server, virtual hosting and VPS mentioned above. Beginners usually pay a lot of attention on the volume of web space, while in face there are many other important factors they should take into consideration.

2. Dedicated IP address, Shared IP address (IP sharing)
Dedicated IP address and Shared IP address is a pair of corresponding concepts. In dedicated IP hosting, each virtual host has a different IP address. And in shared IP address hosting, all virtual hosts on the same server share a same IP address. The primary reason for a site to use a dedicated IP is to be able to use its own SSL certificate rather than a shared certificate.

3. Windows, Linux, Unix
When you come across the terms such as Windows hosting and Linux hosting, you should realize that these terms are used to describe the operating system of the server, which has nothing to do with the operating system used by your own computer.

The choice of the operating system on the web host depends on the requirement of your website application. Generally, PHP websites prefer Linux hosting, and Windows hosting are more suitable for websites designed with ASP, ASP.net.

4. IIS, Apache, MySQL, MSSQL, ACCESS
IIS and Apache are both popular web servers. MySQL, MSSQL and ACCESS refer to three kinds of database.

5. Concurrent Connection
This is a most concerned factor, which can also confuse lots of users.

The configuration of a web host can affect the max concurrent connection; however it can’t limit the online users within an exact number. The max concurrent connection is affected by several factors, such as the server, the web application you use, and the property of the visitors.

IIS connections can limit the max concurrent connection, while concurrent connection is more likely to be affected by the CPU limitation.

Page View (PV) and hits reflect the server load more precisely, and are more informative than concurrent connections. PV and hits are related to web applications.

With these basic concepts, you can start looking for a web host now.

It may be difficult for you guys who are new to web hosting industry to figure out the exact meaning of the slang and terms. But don’t worry; I’ve collected some common-mentioned terms and their definitions for you. You may find these helpful.

Web hosting service: A web hosting service is a type of Internet hosting service that allows individuals and organizations to make their own website accessible via the World Wide Web. Web hosts are companies that provide space on a server they own or lease for use by their clients as well as providing Internet connectivity, typically in a data center. Web hosts can also provide data center space and connectivity to the Internet for servers they do not own to be located in their data center, called colocation.

Shared hosting service: A shared hosting service or virtual hosting service refers to a web hosting service where many websites reside on one web server connected to the Internet. Each site “sits” on its own partition, or section/place on the server to keep it separate from other sites. Shared hosting service is generally the most economical option for hosting as many people share the overall cost of server maintenance.

HostEase has launched three shared webhosting packages: Blog Package, Basic Package and Business Package. They are configured to meet different wants and needs. For more information on HostEase’s shared hosting packages, see Shared Webhosting.

Dedicated Server service: A dedicated hosting service or dedicated server or managed hosting service, is a type of web hosting in which the client leases an entire server not share with anyone. This is more flexible than shared hosting, as the client has full control over the server, including choice of operating system, hardware, etc. Server administration can usually be provided by the hosting company as and add-on service. In some cases a dedicated server can off less overhead and a larger return on investment.

There are three dedicated hosting package that HostEase provides: Dedicated I, Dedicated II and Dedicated III. For more information on HostEase’s dedicated hosting packages, see Dedicated Server.

VPS: Virtual Private Server (also referred to as Virtual Dedicated Server or VDS), is a method of partitioning a physical server computer into multiple servers such that each has the appearance and capabilities of running on its own dedicated machine. Each virtual server can run its own full-fledged operating system, and each server can be independently rebooted. This is a hosting solution with performance higher than shared hosting and price lower than dedicated hosting. Unfortunately, HostEase doesn’t support VPS at the moment.

Reseller hosting service: Reseller hosting is a form of web hosting wherein the account owner has the ability to use his/her alloted hard drive space and bandwidth to host websites on behalf of third parties. The reseller pruchases the host’s servers wholesale and then sells them to customers for a profit. The reseller may rent a dedicated server from a hosting company, or resell shared hosting services.HostEase’s reseller web hosting plan is coming soon.

Bandwidth allocation: In the webhosting industry, bandwidth allocation can be used in scenarios such as allocating bandwidth to a web site running on a server, or allocating bandwidth to a computer on a network. Once the allocated bandwidth has been utilized, allocations are often administered by terminating or temporarily suspending access. A higher bandwidth can increase download speed.

Clients who order Basic Package and Business Package of HostEase can enjoy unlimited bandwidth every month.

storage: As far as hosting is concerned, storage means the volume of the disk space that provide by web hosts for the use of customer uploading photos, videos, documents and more. It is a permanent holding place for customers’ digital data, unless purposely erased.

HostEase provides different levels of storage volume for different packages in consideration of customers’ need.

Coupon: When purchasing a webhosting product, a coupon is a ticket or a document that can be exchanged for a financial discount or rebate. Coupons are issued by web hosts as a part of sales promotion.

HostEase will also put on special offers from time to time. Then our coupons will be distributed through mail and the Internet.

Affiliate Program: In the webhosting industry, a affiliate program is held by the hosting company for the purpose of market development. The affiliate program enables its affiliates (people who participate in the affiliate program) to add certain links and promotional features to their websites. The affiliates will be eligible for compensation once customers make orders through the links on their websites.
