March 9th, 2011  in SEO 23 Comments »

All webmasters would like to get more traffic to their websites. No matter what kind of websites they host, business site or personal blog, traffic can never be enough. A simple reason for desiring more traffic is that we all wish to have more visitors. In this competitive world of network, a lot of websites can be available on internet, how to improve competitive ability is very important, which every webmaster would concern more about. Here’re some tips on getting more traffic. I would like to share them with all of you.

1.Contents on website must be the key of attracting visitors
Although there’re many methods can be available to bring more traffic, I think posting attractive content is more helpful than other methods. As a good site, it must provide useful and attractive information to their visitors. If one site just has some duplicate content, I think no one would want to be back to that site again. Place more original articles on your site and update your site’s content regularly. Because the information on internet changes fast, your site would lose competitiveness without update for some time.

2.Backlinks is another efficient way for website promotion
According to the learning from the internet, we found many professionals recommended backlinks. Is it so useful? Firstly, the definition of backlinks is incoming links which connect to your specific webpage from other website. Be careful when you create backlinks, because just quality backlinks would be benefit for your site, while bad backlinks can’t bring benefit or even damage your website. For example, if you link to gambling site, your site may be banned by search engines when that gambling site is banned.

3.Don’t forget to comment in relevant blogs or forums
I suggest you visit relevant blogs or forums in your spare time. Not only can you learn more about blog building but also you can leave comment in some posts that your are interested in. Blog commenting can always bring more traffic, especially the foregoing several comments. Of course, please don’t leave useless comment, such as “Good tips” or “Thanks for sharing”, because no one would like such comments. I am sure everyone would like professional and useful comments. Many forums permit their clients to have signature with posting comments. You can provide the link to your site in signature, since it can help others to link to your site.

4.Focus on related keywords
Search engine loves keywords. First, make sure your site URL contains some relevant keywords which is often searched in web. You also can use primary keywords in the title and secondary keywords in the body of the post published on your site.

These four tips are simple but really easy to use in handy. The more work you do, the more you will get, so please persist in doing this and no doubt you will be succeed. Maybe you’re not SEO professional, but I think you also can do good job on SEO and make more and more people know your site and love your site.

Why Is My Internet So Slow

February 23rd, 2010  in Experience Sharing 428 Comments »

A slow Internet connection can be caused by a number of reasons. And now we will list some of the most common reasons for slow Internet connection.

1. The traffic of targeted website
The issue would be easily at their end if you are visiting a particular site or service. Once the bandwidth or the website you are visiting is insufficient or the load is too high, the web pages on that website will load slowly. When people are at home (off work or school) or during weekends, your Internet will be even slower if you try visiting these web sites.

In this case, it is best to visit the site after a while, or, visit another site that provides similar information.

2. The location of targeted website
The location of the web site you are visiting can also determine the speed of your Internet connection. Accessing a web site that is in a different part of the world will be slower than accessing a web site that is hosted closer to you.

3. ISP Network maintenance
The maintenance on network or equipment of your Internet Service Provider (ISP) will also slow down your Internet. Sometimes you even cannot access the web pages you want during the maintenance.

4. The quality of the phone line you are using
Most of the connections made between networks are done over phone lines, therefore the stability of your phone line can also determine your Internet speed. The better the phone lines are, the better your Internet connection will be.

The above are cases that out of your control, while the following are some issues possibly at your end and you can try to boost the Internet speed with corresponding operation.

5. Too many programs starting up at boot up time
When you boot up your PC, not only necessary driver software but also a lot of applications will be enabled. Too many unnecessary startup programs will lead to sluggish machine startup. Besides, the computer resource and memories will also be consumed faster.

You can go to the start menu and disable some unnecessary startup programs.

6. Performing lots of things on the Internet
You probably find that the Internet turns slow when you are doing more than two or three things on the Internet. The situation will be even worse if one of the operations is video, game or other type of files downloading.

Do not run so many applications at a time, the heavy load will make your Internet slow, slow and slow.

7. Computer worms
Virus including computer worms will result in slow Internet connection and software infection.
Remember to keep your antivirus and security software up to dat to avoid virus infection. And be wary of opening attachments or clicking on links in e-mails from people you don’t know.

8. Insufficient system resource
One of the reasons for slow Internet is that you’ve run too many applications or plug-ins in the backend. Install only necessary applications and remove those unused ones, reduce the server load and improve Internet speed.

9. High CPU usage
High CPU usage will lead to slow Internet loading too.

10. Problems with your own network configuration or equipment
Sometimes slow Internet connection may be caused by improper network configuration (such as cache setting, virtual dialup setting of EnterNet 300 on Windows System and so on) or your computer equipment (Maybe your PC is too old to run fast).

As far as the former is concerned, you can modify the settings and it is OK. While when it comes to the later situation, well, you will probably have to buy a new one to instead of your old PC.

11. Computer running nonstop
Sometimes the Internet suddenly becomes slow during your usage, while there seems nothing wrong with the targeted website, the ISP or your network. In fact, everything is OK except that your computer has run for such a long time that he wants a break. Try rebooting it and see whether that is OK.

If you have any other reason for the slow Internet, please share it with us in the comment. We’d love to hear what you think.

Will Change Domain Name Effect Search Engine Rank

January 17th, 2010  in Domain Name 1,090 Comments »

Sometimes, you may encounter such problem you have to get a new domain name for your website, while you’re worrying about losing the current rank in Google or other search engines. For example, you want to change your current hostease.com domain into a simpler and more catchy one such as host.com. However, the hostease.com has already established in Google and other search engines and even ranks high. Therefore, you may worry about if the rank of your website will drop after the domain name is changing.

Well, of course it will affect Google and other search engines rank. But if you can do it as follows, it will be the best way for you to keep the original rank of your site.

To relocate the site, you’d better follow these steps:

1.First of all, test the contents of the migration process of the entire site by moving a directory or sub domain. Then use the 301 redirect feature to redirect the original site to your new website. This method can be adopted by the search engines: your site has been permanently relocated.

2.Check whether your new site’s pages can appear in the search engine’s search results or not. If you are satisfied on the small-scale migration, you can move the entire site. Please do not redirect all the traffic of the old site pages to your new home page. Although this across-the-board redirection will avoid a 404 error, it can not provide a good user experience. Although the page-to-page redirect (each page of the old site are redirected to the corresponding page of the new site) will bring about a greater workload, but will also give you a more consistent user experience and clarity. If the web pages of the new site cannot exactly match the old one, we must at least ensure that each page of the old site should be redirected to a page with similar content on the new site.

3.If the domain name is changed because of website renaming or redesign, the migration can be divided into two phases: the first stage, move your web site; the second phase, start re-design. In doing so, you could not only control the user experience at every stage of the change in migration, but also make the entire process more smoothly. Change control to a minimum allows you to more easily identify and solve a variety of unforeseen circumstances.

4.Check your site’s internal and external links. Ideally you should contact each administrator of other sites which are linked to your site, so that they can link them to the corresponding page under your new domain name. You should also check and update all the internal links of your old site, so that they point to the new domain name. When you have the site ready for the new server, you can use a link checking tool to verify whether your new site links are all available. This is particularly important, if your original content included absolute links rather than relative links words.

5.In order to prevent confusion and chaos, you’d better continue to hold authority control of the domain name to the original website at least 180 days.

6.Add your new web site to the Webmaster Tools account and verify your ownership of the site. Create and submit a sitemap to show all the new web site URL, so that search engines will know your new site’s content is now available for crawl.

7.Finally, ensure that your new and old sites in the webmaster tools are verified, and check crawl errors regularly to ensure that the 301 redirect from the old site is working, at the same time the new site will not show the 404 error that we do not want to see.
