Backup Your Website in cPanel

September 26th, 2011  in Uncategorized, Website 1 Comment »

As we all know, Hostease will not automatically backup websites which contain more than 50,000 inodes according to the terms of service and will inform those via Email notifying that your sites have used more than 50,000 inodes. So what should you do when you receive such an Email? Of course you should pay attention to this issue and remember to make backups of your accounts periodically in case you lose your site content. I would like to introduce a kind of method to make backups by using cPanel.
You can backup your entire site or only backup partially in cPanel:

i. Backup your entire site.
First, choose Backups under Files in cPanel interface. Then chick Download or Generate a Full Website Backup button, after that you will select the destination for the backup files. As you want to backup your site, please choose Home Directory. Then enter one of your Email address or you can choose Do not send email notification of backup completion. But I strongly recommend you to enter an Email address, thus you can receive an Email once the full backup of your account has been completed. Finally, click Generate Backup, then the backup file will be created and will be stored as a “tar ball,” or compressed data file, with the filename extension .tar or .gz.

ii. Backup partial website.
This function allows you to store individual pieces of your site. As the above, choose Backups under Files in cPanel interface first. In the opened page, you will see three choices: Home Directory, MySQL Databases, and Email Forwarders & Filters. So, you can choose to backup your Home Directory, MySQL databases as well as Email Forwards & filters by clicking the appropriate links under the Partial Backups headings just as you want. This method will download the backup file(s) to your computer, saving them to a specified directory. Once you want to restore your Home Directory, MySQL databases or Email Forwards & filters, you can also click the corresponding Upload button on the right side to upload these backup files so that you can complete the restoration.

From the above you can see that cPanel is very useful and convenient when you want to make backups of your accounts. So you should take good use of this control panel and make your hosting life easier and more comfortable.

SSL Certificates in Hostease

September 23rd, 2011  in SSL No Comments »

SSL is short for Secure Socket Layer. Customer who installed SSL certificates will keep the security of his website via information encryption technology and the means of identification. I think it is necessary for those whose websites contained important content.
Currently, we provide two methods for subscribers to get the SSL certificates.

i. If you purchase business shared hosting with annually or biannually payment plan, not only can you get a free domain name, but also you can get a free SSL certificate with a free dedicated IP. Meanwhile, if you forget to place an order for SSL certificates, you can contact our representatives, we can help you apply for it after verified your identity. However, if you purchase SSL certificates, you must buy dedicated IP together.

ii. If you don’t want to buy business shared hosting annually or biannually, you still can purchase it alone. The price is 30$ per year. As we all know that at first the blog shared hosting doesn’t support SSL certificates, but now, customer who buy this package can also purchase SSL certificates and install it for his/her website.

After you get the SSL certificates, it does not mean you can install it by yourself, you should cooperate with our technical engineer, or the installation of the SSL certificates will fail.

Firstly, we will send an email to you and you should fill in all information required. The information is listed below:
Domain Name:
First Name :
Last Name :
Email :
Organization :
Company Division:
Your Title/Role:
Address :
City :
Postal/Zip Code :
Country :
State:
Telephone:
Fax:

Secondly, after you provide all these necessary information, we will help you purchase and apply for the certificates.

Thirdly, you should confirm the link in your mailbox sent by the corresponding CA after we apply the certificate for you. However, the mail address is not a random address. This mail address should comply with the e-mail box in whois information of your domain. So you should cancel privacy protection if you have protected your domain information. Or you will not receive the confirm email. What’s more, if you don’t want to use this e-mail address, you can still build a new mail box with your domain name that will install SSL certificates as the suffix, such as admin@www.domainname.com or admin@domainname.com. You still can change admin into administrator, hostmaster, root, webmaster or postmaster. But make sure you have told this new email address and we will send the confirmation email to you again.

Fourthly, when we receive the confirmation from you, we will help you generate and install the certificates instantly.

Lastly, we will inform you after we finished installing the SSL certificates.

We provide free installation for people who purchase SSL certificates in Hostease. I think it may be the biggest temptation for those who want to install certificates for their websites. So are you ready to purchase SSL certificates in Hostease?

DNS in HostEase

September 2nd, 2011  in DNS 1 Comment »

HostEase is not only a hosting provider but also a domain registrar. As you know, there should be some differences of DNS between hosting provider and domain registrar. Now let’s talk something about HostEase’s DNS.

Purchasing hosting in Hostease
If you only purchase web hosting in Hostease without registering domain here, we recommend you to change the NS of your primary domain name (the domain name which you used to place your web hosting order) before/after you place the order to: ns1.hostease and ns2.hostease.com. These two DNS addresses are HostEase’s default ones as a hosting provider. If you don’t change them, you have to make DNS records in your domain control panel though the DNS records have been generated in HostEase’s DNS servers automaticaly after your web hosting account being activated.
If you choose basic package or business package, you can enjoy unlimited addon domains and parked domains. We also recommend you to change the NS of the domain you want to add or park in cPanel to HostEase’s default DNS addresses. Then you can add or park the domain in cPanel by yourself easily. However, you may encounter with such error notice if you don’t change the NS of the domain before you add or park it :“ Error from park wrapper: Using nameservers with the following IPs: xxx xxxx. Sorry, the domain is already pointed to an IP address that does not appear to use DNS servers associated with this server. Please transfer the domain to this server’s nameservers or have your administrator add one of its nameservers to /etc/ ips.remotedns and make the proper A entries on that remote nameserver.”. At this moment you have the following methods to solve this issue: Contact with customer service representatives to help you add them or change NS of the domain to HostEase’s default DNS addresses: ns1.hostease.com and ns2.hostease.com.

Registering domain in HostEase
If you just register a domain in HostEase, you can manage your domain in your domain control panel here, in short of DCP. Here is the address for you to log in this system: http://dcp.hostease.com. After you register a domain in HostEase, the default ns are ns1.hoatease.com and ns2.hostease.com. They are different from the NS of DCP system. NS of DCP system are listed as following:
hostease.mars.orderbox-dns.com
hostease.earth.orderbox-dns.com
hostease.venus.orderbox-dns.com
hostease.mercury.orderbox-dns.com

If you want to use DCP system to make domain records, you have to use DCP’s four NS. It’s very easy for you to change the default NS to the four DNS addresses of DCP system in dcp.hostease.com. After that, you can make any records for your domain there without a hitch. For example, you can manage domain forwarding; add A records, MX records, CNAME records and so on. The domain records here will not function if you use HE’s default DNS addresses: ns1.hostease.com and ns2.hostease.com.

Purchasing hosting together with registering domain in HostEase
If you purchase hosting in HostEase together with domain, I will strongly recommend you to keep original DNS addresses (ns1.hostease.com and ns2.hostease.com) as much as possible. It is hard to exaggerate the benefits this would bring to you. That’s because we are using DNS clustering technology for our cPanel servers. And the DNS records could be automatically changed along with the IP changing or creating of your hosting account. If you have to make DNS records in dcp.hostease.com, please remember to change the NS of your domain there to the four DNS addresses of DCP system.

How to Manage Your cPanel Password

August 31st, 2011  in Cpanel 3 Comments »

Recently, we have received a call from one of our customers complaining that she can not log in cPanel. We believe that not only this lady has ever encountered this kind of problem, but also others may have. Most of them may forget their password or have ever modified the password in cPanel but did not remember the password in time. So we are writing to tell you something about managing your cPanel password. To sum up, there are two kinds of cases as below.

1. When you want to modify your cPanel password.
You can modify your cPanel password in your cPanel. In this kind of situation, the new password will not be updated in your client area. So, if you have modified your cPanel password in cPanel, then you can not log in your cPanel through client area for the password in your client area is incorrect. To avoid this problem, we suggest you try another way to modify your cPanel password: Modifying your cPanel password in your client area. If so, you can log in your cPanel by logging in your client area and you can also view your password so that you will never be afraid of losing your cPanel password.

2. When you forget your cPanel password.
When you can not log in your cPanel, you must have forgotten your cPanel password for most of the time. If you meet this kind of problem, first you should confirm that you have not typed it wrongly then you can be sure that you have lost your cPanel password. Till then, don’t worry about this issue, you can deal with it as follows. First, log in your client area. Then click My Products & Services, you will see the products & services bought in Hostease. After that, select the account which you have lost your cPanel password and you will find a table which lists some information about this account, then click the rightmost of the table which is a little green arrow and in the opened page you will find your cPanel user name and password. If you still can not log in your cPanel in it, just modify one and remember it.

So, from the above we can conclude that it is very easy for our customers to manage their cPanel password all by themselves. We wish all of our customers can benefit from this article and enjoy managing their web hosting by using cPanel.

How to Set Up 404 Error Pages in HostEase?

August 9th, 2011  in Website 5 Comments »

404 error page is the most frequent error that we meet when we access the website by wrong URL. The detailed reasons include:

1.The server can not find the pages or access paths that you request.

2.The link you input was changed or you have inputted (the) wrong links.

As you know, the browser has its default error pages such as 404 error page. Some of you may want your customized error page and don’t want the default one. Today, I would like to share with you how to set up the 404 error page in HostEase.

Generally, there are two methods for you to customize your 404 error page. The first way, also the simpler one, log into your cPanel and find the advanced option. Then click error pages and you can customize your website error pages there. This function is automatically provided by cPanel. If you prefer, you can create a customized error page for any valid HTTP status code beginning with 4 or 5. Just edit them directly here.

The second way, go to file manager in your cPanel. Then you can create a file named 404.shtml in the root directory of each website. Edit this file and then the visitors will see your customized 404 error page.

Of course, there are several other methods; for example, you can also redirect it to a new link by using 301 permanent redirection.

However, we should pay attention to the following items.

1.404 error page shouldn’t be pointed to the home page, or it may be disappeared from the search engine.

2.Absolute URL is not recommended.

3.It is a better choice for the customers to choose where to go but the automatic forwarding pages that you defined.

A nice 404 error page is a friendly interface to visitors,so it is important for you to design a nicer 404 error page.

The Advantages of Dedicated IP

August 3rd, 2011  in About HostEase, Web Hosting 3 Comments »

Hostease has three choices in purchasing web hosting. They are blog, basic and business. Among them, only those who choose business one can get a free dedicated IP. Maybe there are many people who don’t know about dedicated IP too much, so just let us learn more about it together.

Using a dedicated IP has more advantages than using a shared one. The following are some reasons that can explain it.

1.People can access your site via your dedicated IP, while using shared IP can not achieve this goal. So your site can be accessed in two ways. Shared IP just can open the default page.

2.Having a dedicated IP allows your site to be separated from other sites on the server. If you want a stable service, dedicated IP is a necessity. If you use shared IP, your site will easily be affected when one of the sites on the server has something wrong and leads to the suspension of the shared IP. Or, when share IP is attacked, if we can not be sure which account is attacked, then all of the accounts on the server will be influenced. What is the function of dedicated IP? That is to say, dedicated IP does not have the risk (which) talked above.

3.Furthermore, if you want to use SSL function, a dedicated IP is a must. Only if you have dedicated IP, then you can install SSL certificate. Because SSL certificate can only be installed in a certain IP which excludes shared IP for you can not set up a safe site based on shared IP.

4.Meanwhile, a dedicated IP is also a necessity of using anonymous FTP in Hostease. To have the function of anonymous FTP, you should buy a dedicated IP. Anyway, a dedicated IP is a better choice.

Obviously, there are more than these advantages above. Anyone who uses dedicated IP will benefit from it and will find the good points of using dedicated IP. So, are you ready to have one?

Something about the Mail Policy in Hostease

July 31st, 2011  in About HostEase, Web Hosting 2 Comments »

Nearly no one knows the policy of mail when they purchase hosting or domain in Hostease. Here I will tell you something about it.

Many people are likely to ask whether we support post office or not. I am glad to tell you that we do support it. You can build email account by using your domain name as the mail suffix. What’s more, it is very convenient for you to build email account in your control panel and configure it by yourself. The biggest surprise is that we don’t have any limitations on disk space for basic or business shared hosting, so you can build countless email accounts and allot different amount of quota for your accounts.

There are many advantages for you. Firstly, for shared hosting, every domain name can send 500 outgoing emails per hour, which also applies to mailman. Secondly, mailing list is important enough for one company, which can simplify sending messages to a large group of people. In addition, mailing list is very useful when sending newsletters or other updates to large group of people. In Hostease, different hosting plans have different limitations on the number of mailing lists. For blog hosting, you can build 20 mailing lists, basic hosting have 25 and business hosting have 50. However, it does not mean you can create unlimited email addresses for one mailing list although you can build mailing list. For shared hosting solution, mailing list should be no larger than 5,000 addresses and any mailing list over 900 email address is only allowed to be sent to during off-peak times. You must have confused the meaning of off-peak time, which qualifies as 1AM-8AM Eastern Standard Time Monday – Friday, and all day of Saturday and Sunday.

All these are direct at shared hosting, you can see some limitations. But for dedicated hosting solution, we don’t have any limitations on sending outgoing emails, building mailing list and the addresses that mailing list contains. So please feel free to use it when you purchase dedicated hosting.

According to the Terms of Hostease, any form of spam is strictly prohibited.HostEase.com  takes a zero tolerance policy against the sending of unsolicited e-mail, bulk emailing, Junk E-mail and UCE (collectively, the “spam”).Once we got the complaint from others or we ourselves found subscribers who send out spam to others we will remind you at first and then if you haven’t taken any measures to stop this behavior we will have your account terminated negotiable. So someone who is likely to build e-mail box for your employees should tell them the details just in case.

So have you made up your mind to purchase our hosting?

How to Move a Website Without Downtime

July 18th, 2011  in Website 3 Comments »

Many people don’t satisfy with their hosting providers but have to stay with them; this is simply because they think that moving to a new server is too complicated. They don’t want the down time when they move their websites, reset domain name severs and change email settings. Fortunately, it is possible to move a website without downtime.

Here is step-by-step on how to move your website without downtime.
1.Keep the current hosting account
While you are finding the new web hosting make sure you don’t cancel your current hosting account. If your current hosting provider knows you want to cancel your hosting account, they would terminate your account early. This will cause the downtime.

2.Analysis your website needs and select a new hosting
Select a hosting that can provide what your website needs. Sign up a new hosting account, you should have two hosting accounts at this time.

3.Backup and download all of your files
Backup the entire website .You can use a FTP program or whatever development tools you may be used to download all files. Then upload the entire website to the new hosting account. Keep the directory structure exactly as it is on your previous hosting account. If you have built the site it is most likely that you already have all of these.

4.Update your name severs
You’ll get at least two name severs in the new account information email from your new hosting provider. After moving the entire website to the new hosting account, it’s time to update your domain name servers. Go to domain control panel to change the DNS to the new hosting provider’s.

5.Monitor (for ) the domain name change
Once the DNS has been changed, it usually takes 24 to 48 hours for the entire world to see the change. During this period your DNS is propagating worldwide and your website will be bouncing from the previous host to the new host every other minute randomly. Once the propagation has completed that means you are safely to cancel the previous hosting account.

And there you have done it; you can move your website without downtime.
